College classes instead of AP classes

I have the opportunity at my high school to take college classes at the local community college during my junior and senior year. You earn both college and high school credit for these classes. I plan to go ahead and do that full-time.

Now, I am a sophomore, and I haven’t taken any AP classes in high school. I’m wondering if it will look bad that I don’t have any AP classes on my application, or if colleges will understand. Do they even look at college classes? Will they automatically throw out my application because I have no AP classes?

I got into UC Davis and did the same program. No AP’s, but around 50 units of college courses. You also will be exempted from some placement tests and can potentially get out in less than 4 years.

Kids at my child’s school all take college courses instead of APs. They do just fine. Colleges like seeing the college courses at least as much as APs. You will learn a lot about time management and how to deal with the very different feel of college as well.
