College commitment

hi all! I had a quick question I was hoping anyone could answer. I was told that after you commit to a school, you are able to withdraw that commitment if you get into a waitlist/ anything else happens which makes you want to switch schools. I am currently ready to Commit to UIC but at the same time I want to be able to have the flexibility to change my commitment as I am also waitlisted from case western. So if anyone can clarify id appreciate it. thanks!

What you described is correct. But if you get into Case Western, you’ll lose your deposit to UIC

but what if I still decide to go to UIC even after getting off the waitlist for Case Western?

You can just decline Case Western

Accepting a spot on the wait-list is not a commitment. If you get off the case waitlist and decide you don’t want to go there, simply decline
