<p>I’ve taken college courses since 2007, and have received A’s on all of them. Some of the classes (classes taken from 2007 through Spring of 2010) are only worth .5 Units, and some are worth 1 unit (Fall 2010 through Spring 2013)</p>

<p>With that said, I would like to know which of these courses count towards my CSU/UC GPA, and how much it’s worth. Do the number of units matter? If so, how many units are required to have it count towards my GPA? I’m asking because on the GPA Calculator on CSU Mentor it says:
“College courses used to meet CSU “a-g” requirements can also result in “honors” points. But no more than eight (8) honors points may be awarded.”</p>

<p>Page 13 of <a href=“http://www.calstate.edu/sas/publications/documents/AdmissionHandbook.pdf[/url]”>http://www.calstate.edu/sas/publications/documents/AdmissionHandbook.pdf</a> suggests that one course of 3 semester or 4 quarter units counts in place of a year long high school course, so your economics course should probably be entered twice. But you may want to ask CSU about what to do with your collection of 1 and 0.5 unit courses.</p>
<p>For clarification, are you a current high school student? Are you applying as a freshman or a transfer student?</p>
<p>Here is a site that may help you. Look up the community college you went too. It lists the classes that meet A-G requirements. If your class isn’t on the list, then it shouldn’t be part of your UC GPA. Courses that have been approved for honors credit will be marked accordingly. Now, that is ONLY for the UC system. I haven’t come across a similar site for the CSU schools and you do have units that are marked only CSU transferable.</p>
<p>As for units. I’m not sure how that works for you. My own daughter takes courses at the community college but they appear on her high school transcript and transferred into high school units. In her case, a regular full year HS class equals 10 HS units. One semester of a college class like Economics is equivalent to 10 HS units (even though in college units could be anywhere from 3 to 6… the grade is doubled as if there were two high school semesters taken.) I’m not sure how a 1 unit class would transfer. You should really talk to your counselor about this.</p>

<p>I wanted to add that the only 1 unit classes listed as acceptable from our community college are science labs. The only music classes accepted were 3 units. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t the same for you. This doesn’t mean you won’t get credit for the units should you attend a UC/CSU but it probably means they won’t be counted as part of your admissions GPA.</p>
