If I started taking college courses in 10th grade and I am in my 9th college course right now and will complete 10 courses by the time I graduate from high school will I stand out in the admission process or is that just normal for people applying to Yale?
*also two of the courses were taken at Yale.
thanks

It’s a bit of a standout, I’d say.

was there even a point to do it for your benefit? or are you doing it just for yale?

i took the courses because I am interested in them, and I wanted to challenge myself. All of the courses that I took were all in areas of interest to me like law, business, and advanced math. The courses tie into my ec’s and my essays, i think that it showed extra commitement to what I am interested in. But the overall reason that i took it was for myself because I wanted to learn about what i am interested in.
thanks

well, you can only learn so much. did you apply any of them?

I did over 5 (cant remember how many) college courses while in high school, all A’s except for one B+. I think it gave me a pretty nice step up in my application because I was able to really tie it in well to my overall “image” that I was selling to the college and it helped me overcome the fact that my unweighted gpa was 3.4-3.5. Mind you I was applying to schools mostly rank 20-40, but I got in most. I think that it will look good to show a passion and intellectual vitality. If you are applying to stanford, that might also help you because they specifically are looking for “intellectual vitality”.
