i’m earning four college credits at Pratt institute (art school) this summer. I wonder whether these will be incorporated in my HS GPA, and if so what weight and impact they will have. Do art school credits count?

They will probably be included in the HS GPA and receive a weight equivolent to an honors/AP course. However, you should ask your guidance counselor to be sure.

College credits will not impact your high school gpa unless they are meant as a JC like supplement for a high school grade that you failed. If they are transfered to your high school they will appear on your transcript and show that you earned credit for them at whichever university. They will NOT impact your high school gpa. I would suggest you append them to your high school transcript because it saves you time, money, and effort. When you apply to colleges you won’t have to send in your college credits separately. It will all be on one nice clean transcript.

at my school college classes bring down your gpa, since they’re treated as unweighted classes. ugh. hope that’s not the case with your school.

thanks…but wow, lots of conflicting info. i’ll ask my counselor. why must it all be so complicated?!!

It’s because it differs from school to school.

generally…a HUGE no, reason being community colleges will give out 4.0’s left and right… god knows the hell that would cause

it depends on your school…

At mine, college courses aren’t included in the gpa.
