What is PSUs policy on college credit, such as AP courses, and courses at a local university while still in high school (senior options program. ). Can these courses be applied to, and accepted, at Penn State? Thanks in advance.
Be careful about using all of the credit your student may have accumulated – you get charged junior-level tuition as soon as you hit 59.1 total credits.
My daughter came in with 12 credits then started in summer with 6 more, so she had 18 credits prior to starting fall semester freshman year. PSU accepted all classes, but we did check on their website what they accept before taking the classes. We didn’t think about the higher tuition when they hit jr. Status, but we will be paying higher tuition at least a semester early. Probably offsets the savings from doing dual enrollment! But in our case, the extra credits will allow her to take lighter semesters and focus on grades because she will need to apply to grad school and needs high grades for that. I still go back and forth as to whether it was worth it or not.
