According to popular beliefs, a student with extra college credits will be placed higher in position (just for comparison’s sake) than the student with low college credits?
Student A: 18 credits received out of 22;
Student B: 12 credits received out of 12 (I maybe wrong, but 12 credits are required for a student to be Full-time student).
Of these students, which student would be at a benefit (if let’s assume, they are planning to transfer after first year to a different university) ?
Is this for a transfer student?
Each college and university decides for itself whether or not to accept any of the previous coursework for transfer credit, and whether or not those courses are enough to place the student in a particular year of studies.
Colleges and universities that are on the semester system would normally give sophomore (second year) status to a student who has completed 30 transferable semester hours of credits, and junior (third year) status to a student who has completed 60 transferable semester hours of credits.
It also depends on the GPA in addition to number of credits.
