So I am trying to skip the freshmen year of college if not a year than atleast a semester for sure, So what I wanted to ask was that I took AP world in my Sophomore year of High School(which was last year). I was had 3 A’s and 1 B in four quarters of that class and I really knew the material very well but on the test day I misunderstood the essay question and wrote about something else which was actually not asked in the question so anyways I got a 2 on the test and I was really tensed and depressed when I got my score. So I am taking APUSH next year what do you guys think ? Will I get my history credit after passing APUSH how will it help me? I am really confused…
Any score lower than a 3 won’t get you college credits. Depending on which college you decide to go to, you should definitely look at their AP Credit Policy. Most colleges will accept a 3, however, more selective colleges will want either a 4 or 5. As for APUSH, you should definitely go for it. Don’t be bummed about your APWH score, I also scored a 2 on the exam when I took the class as a sophomore. Learn from your mistake and you will do well in future AP exams
So I am looking forward to UCF and I can try to apply for UF if they accept me but for UCF, for APWH they give you credit for WOH 2022 and for APUSH they give it as AMH 1000 ( AMH 1000 & 2020), so now I couldn’t avail the credits for APWH, So now if I pass APUSH how would that shape up for my college history credit ?
@Qasim770 each college has their own policies about AP credits, UT Dallas offers zero credit for APWH no matter what the score, you might also want to look into CLEP and DE (dual enrollment) APUSH is a HUGE time suck at our high school and I advise my kids to take it DE online instead of AP.
@Qasim770 Correct me if I’m wrong:

If you score a 3 on the APUSH exam it will satisfy AMH 1000
If you score a 4 or 5 on the APUSH exam it will satisfy CUL & HIS Found 1 & 3 (6 Credit Hours)
[/QUOTE]
I used this information and found that if you score either a 4 or 5 it will count towards your General Education Program (GEP). See more info: http://catalog.ucf.edu/policies/gep
UCF requires that all students “fulfill the General Education Program requirements.” The total credits to complete the GEP is 36 credit hours. Therefore if you score either a 4 or 5, you already have completed 6 credits hours so you need to complete the remaining 30 credit hours. Depending on what you major in, I assume these 6 credits will help you bypass some prerequisites and/or GE requirements.
I couldn’t find any more information about scoring a 3 which is equivalent to the course AMH 1000. I believed that UCF will find a way to make it count towards getting college credits.
I hope I’d answer question correctly

UCF requires that all undergraduate students “fulfill the GEP requirements.” A total of 36 credit hours is required to complete it. Therefore, if you scored either a 4 or 5 then it is equivalent to taking AMH 2010 & 2020, a total 6 credit hours, leaving you only 30 credit hours left. I assumed that these credits may also satisfy some prerequisites (depending on what you major) in order to take upper-level classes.
I couldn’t find any more information about scoring a 3 on the APUSH exam, but hopefully, UCF will somehow grant you the college credits since it is equivalent to taking AMH 1000.
I hope I’d answered your question correctly
you need to complete 36 credit hours in a year?
if that’s the case how does taking AP classes like Biology, Psychology, Language would help me in taking my credit hours off. I also took Aice sociology and Aice General Papers last year how would that help me ?
If you could answer my my question it would be much appreciated. Thanks
Look at the link for accelerated opportunities. It tells you if you have a specific score or higher for AP and AICE if and how those classes count towards your requirements. Taking AP, AICE, IB, dual enrollment etc do not guarantee credit. Each individual school has its own requirements as to what scores/grades it accepts and how that is used.
- Sometimes the classes don't count at all regardless of grade/score
- sometimes the classes require a specific grade/score to count 3 sometimes they just count as general credits which may or may not help with your major 4 sometimes they don't count but allow you to start at a higher level such as taking a higher level math 5 sometimes they count but you still need to take a class in that subject 6 sometimes they fulfill a general ed or major requirement and you receive full credit
You need to look at each school individually. It is often posted on its website but if it isn’t call admissions and ask.
alright thanks @momtogirls2
Don’t worry too much about AP exams. Very few colleges allow you to use the credit for your major or for GE’s-- it’s all elective credit… aka useless? deadweight? One benefit could be enrollment priority though.
hmm
