So everyone I’ve been asking haven’t been much help, they’ve been telling me go to the school with the better name.
So here’s my situation…
CSUN and CSUF are the two cal states that I’m planning on transferring to if I do go to a Calstate. What I want to do is learn as much as I can in Accounting, because I want to eventually work for a consulting company. What I told you do as a consultant is you work for a company, and that company is hired by other companies who are doing terrible as a company, and you assist them and bring them back to life again. My mentor told me that you need to understand Managerial accounting for that, to understand all the reports, and see why exactly the company is going downhill. And then you can look into a consulting position.
So that’s currently my goal, and here’s my dilemma. CSUN, CSUF, and UCI are my top three choices.
CSUN because it’s close-by, will be saving a ton on educational expenses, and transfer Spring of 2016.
CSUF because its double accredited, once again will be saving a ton on educational expenses and transfer spring of 2016 as well.
And finally UCI. UCI is a campus I fell in love with, my older sibling went there, and I fell in love with the area and the campus.I can see myself at that school. But the only problem is that they only accept incoming fall students.
So should I choose to wait to go to UCI (which there is no guarantee that I will get in), which is basically a year from now, or should I go to CSUF or CSUN and get my undergraduate degree from there?
Now a little of my educational background.
My first year at a Community College, I averaged a 3.2 GPA. I know terrible. And it sucks because I took a lot of business related courses and got A’s, B’s, and one C… And that C was in Microecon.
My second year I turned my shit around and am now averaging close to a 3.95 gpa, and am currently taking the same courses that I got B’s and C’s in at a different community college to show my dedication. I was told by the UCI admissions director that they take a look at the whole picture, and not just your past. They see determination and a turnaround.
So right now my GPA is a 3,46, And I know for Paul Merage School of Business, to be competitive you need atleast a 3.5. And I’m right at the borderline!
This is about to be my third year in community college, and I can’t stay here any longer. But if I do decide to go to Irvine, I will start working locally as an Accounts Receivable associate, so I won’t be wasting my time.
So what do you guys think I should do?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
