To get an MBA from USC, NYU, etc besides a high gpa, good work experience, and good GMAT scores, are college EC’s important? I play a full-time sport in lacrosse, and am in the CEO club and Real Estate Society, but I don’t have time for much else. Is this a factor in the schools decision to accept?

Your work experience is going to matter more I think, mainly because usually you come to get an MBA after 3+ years of working.

College EC’s are only a minor factor.

Depends on the school I think. Here’s an anecdotal experience: friend graduated from a top liberal arts school with 3+ GPA and 700+ GMAT score. Worked for 2 years, but fired from 2 firms. Applied and was accepted to Duke’s Fuqua MBA program. Recommendation letters came from a third temp job.
He is finishing his first year at Fuqua, interviewing for summer positions.
