The college that I am applying to has the early action deadline just less than five weeks from now. Ive yet to write my essay, but I was wondering if a bed bug infestation is a safe topic. I know some people have strong feelings about ones who have experienced infestations, but it is something that has made me grow as a person. Im starting on the essay tonight, so Ill have a well-written paper by Thanksgiving. Is bed bugs a safe topic, especially since Ill possibly be living in a dorm next year?

hummm, do you mean they might think you will bring bed bugs to campus?

This sounds like a really strange topic for an essay, but it all depends on how it is written. Will you be able to show your personal and academic qualities through this essay?

Well, I started writing about a trip our class took to hike a couple of years ago. I don’t know how to show much academic strengthening, but I can show definite character growth. Is a hiking trip too common of a topic, though?

Here’s the prompt:

Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced, and its impact on you.
