Hey guys… so I finished writing my commonapp essay like two months ago about a person who had affected me deeply. Unfortunately, he died few weeks ago. And I just realized I’d be lying on my commonapp essay cause I wrote stuff like “I hope he’ll be alive when I get to see him next year.”
When I wrote it, I thought it was good, and my teachers liked it as well.

There’s absolutely no time and no idea for me to write another major college essay. Does anybody have any suggestions? please help…

I’m sorry to hear about that. I do not think it would be an issue – you are not trying to be dishonest. Perhaps you can just add something at the end explaining the situation? Or, even better, perhaps you can revise it slightly. Whether or not he is alive, he still affected you, right?

I agree with Wise Guy. He still affected you in the same ways. You would not be lying technically and if you are concerned, put a footnote or something explaining
