College essay mentions sexuality

One of my college applications had an essay question that asked you to pick a book you read this year and describe how it was meaningful to you. I chose the play Doubt by John Patrick Shanley and was going to mention how I went through a large period of time doubting my sexuality in the essay. Is this okay to mention in a college essay?

If it’s a major part of who you are (which it probably is) then put it, they’d love to know more about you!

Just be careful not to get too in depth about your love life…college essays are personal but I think they should still be somewhat professional
