College Essay

Many pleasant and enjoyable childhood memories are from my Grandma’s house. Down around the curve on Burberry Lane, her house has always been, a warm and fun-loving place filled with many loving childhood memories. Always being at my grandma’s house when I was younger made me feel safe, I could always do anything and it made me feel content while there, like everything in the world was right and perfect.
The refreshing smell of freshly cut grass surrounds the house, as well as five giant beautifully bloomed white bushes in the garden. Up the walkway are seven stone steps that have large flowers, of all different colors, on both sides leading to a large white glass door. And the door leads to a house filled with memories from many children and grandchildren who have walked through the door. Through the door, abundance of memories from the past, start rolling through my head one after the other. Walking in the small, petite house, the sweet smell of heaven filled the air from freshly baked, homemade chocolate chip cookies that my grandma was making. Going into the kitchen my grandma, hunching over the oven, was taking out the last batch of her perfectly round cookies. On the table was a big, white and glass plate with the rest of the cookies on it. As I inhaled the sweet, smell of chocolate I begin to drool over them wanting to devour each one of them. As I bit into one of the rich and chewy cookies, the delicious feel of chocolate slowly melting in my mouth, making me remember all the times I was with my grandma, making her special chocolate chip cookies with her.
Sitting at the table, there was a roaring laughter coming from the living room where my aunts and uncles were reminiscing about their childhoods together and all the fun times they had together. Slowly walking down the hall I walked across the soft pink carpet, and hanging on the walls are every picture, of all of my grandma’s children and grandchildren, from family gatherings and graduations to Christmas cards and birthdays. Almost any memory she has with her family is forever hanging on her wall.
Walking into the living room my aunts and uncles were sitting around the room with smiles on their faces, reminiscing about their childhoods together and all the fun times they have had together in my grandma’s house growing up. When they saw my siblings and I walk into the room, they all jumped up with a large warm welcome, with hugs and kisses from them. The warm hello from my family always made me feel excited being with family all the time. Everyone in the room would say hello and always ask about college and where I would like to go.
After all the welcomes from my aunts and uncles were finally over, I walk down the four steps to the TV room where most of my younger cousins have their eyes glued to the television watching their favorite shows. The rest of them were running around the room screaming in joy about being at grandmas with family. Their shrieks of excitement could be heard throughout the neighborhood. The giant smiles on their faces could put anyone in a good mood.
While watching my younger cousins run around my grandma’s house, it reminded me of all the times me and my siblings would run around her house causing chaos. Also when I would go to her house with my siblings and we felt we could do anything we wanted because everything in the world seemed perfect. And while at my grandma’s I always felt safe and I could do anything there because life at that point was perfect.
