Hi! I’m a high school junior and I’m wondering what colleges have a collegiate fencing team or even NCAA fencing team. I’m not ranked but i have won a couple of competitions, placed fairly high at SYCs or ROCs, and qualified for Summer NACs. I’m not really looking at Div 1 but i do want to continue to fence in college. Any suggestions? (Thanks!) Oh and I’m wondering if UCLA has one because that’s my dream school.
Post in the athletic recruits forum. There is a very long thread about fencing.
The only UC with a fencing team is UCSD.
The only fencing post you need to read: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/athletic-recruits/1902048-the-only-college-fencing-recruiting-thread-you-need-to-read.html#latest
You can get lists of the schools that sponsor NCAA fencing (or any other NCAA sport) at the NCAA website. Go to the link below and select “Men’s Fencing”, “Women’s Fencing”, or “Mixed Fencing”. Then pick Division I, II, or, III (or just select “All”).

You will find that the only schools in California with NCAA fencing teams are Stanford (DI), UCSD (DII) and Caltech (DIII). UCSD is transitioning to DI. There could be club fencing teams at other schools.
Fencing was the hook that got our S18’s friend into Yale.
You might want to be aware that intercollegiate fencing clubs tend to be reasonably common, should this level of competition hold sufficient appeal for you.
I like the look of wrought iron, myself.
Took a second, but I got it. Love an unexpected chuckle.
