College Fit for ODDLY educated

I am having a rather difficult time finding a college that would suit me.
From the third grade on, I was home schooled. Technically, I am a home school graduate, although I do not have a paper diploma to prove it. I could get a GED if I really needed to and my prior education wasn’t accepted.
I have been studying at a very highly regarded community college. (One of the best in the nation) since I was 14 ACE, Advanced College Education
I am now 18 and will have an Associate of Arts English Degree… as well as an Associate of Arts Creative Writing Degree next year (2014).
I would like to begin my Bachelor’s degree next year, or so.
After having a difficult time finding a college that offers Music Management, Music Business, or some similar degree (Not music performance or education!) I have turned to this forum.
For many years, music has been my passion and I could not imagine doing anything else. I constantly write, record, and mix music. (Mostly rock, acoustic, etc.)
Being the daughter of a self employed businessman who is also a local politician, I LOVE the business aspect of music, as well as preforming and singer/songwriter-ing part.
I like marketing, advertisement, websites, Production, merchandise, law, etc.
In hopes of playing my own music, I would like to essentially manage myself or a band I am included in. I wouldn’t mind managing or producing another band, but that isn’t my main passion.

I would like to find a college closer to a city (I’m from Ohio, blegh) where internships, jobs, and other things would be more likely.
I don’t “party” or want to be a part of a “club/sorority.”

I was just hoping someone here might be able to give me some information that might help.
I also would like to point out that I have a short patience with people who are not very smart.
I find myself being held back in the community college I am currently enrolled at and becoming bored often, (which is why I have decided to refer to myself as Moriarty Holmes).
I was hoping to find a college with more independent people who can think for themselves and understand the appreciation of learning.

Thank you to all who reply.
-Moriarty Holmes

You don’t need to get a GED. Go to the Home Schooling forum available from the main page (Discussion Home) and post this question there. There should be some knowledgeable posters who can help you.

There are programs out there that offer what you want, but they vary greatly in content and admission standards. I would suggest reading the curriculum and class descriptions as well as the program description. I’ve also found that the faculty are pretty good about giving you more information if you call or e-mail them (my son is looking for a similar type program). In terms of admissions, I would ask at each school about their requirements.

Here are some schools to consider:

Belmont University (Nashville)
Middle Tennessee State (near Nashville)
Univ. Cincinnati/Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (Cincinnati!)
Berklee (Boston)
Johns Hopkins/Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore)

Drexel has its own record label (Mad Dragon), as well as a strong coop program. It’s in the middle of a large city with an active music community.

Music Business program at nyu has proven to be the ticket into the traditional record company and management agencies for many newly graduated.
