College football 2023 šŸˆ

Alabama’s center has been a problem ALL season. He has racked up a lot of penalty’s and the low balls, bad snaps were really unfortunate. On to next season…

I am fully aware that it is a national championship game. Don’t you think Bama and/or Texas fans would pay any price to see that game when they are relatively close to Houston? That was my point that I think you missed. Bama fans would travel to the moon to see a game, so I don’t see the relevance of them traveling to Indy.

Yes. My point is that the ticket prices plummeted once Alabama and Texas were out.

EVERYONE seems to be focusing on Penix and his receivers, which I think is great. Please do it all week, make Michigan’s D and Jesse Minter, the DC, mad, disrespected.

OTOH, Washington’s D gave up almost 500 yards to Texas, though forcing 2 turnovers. Washington has been a ā€œbend, but don’t breakā€ D. And that may not be the best approach with Michigan, which in the game against Penn State, Michigan ran the ball 32 times in a row.

You gotta stop the run with Michigan or Penix may not see the field as much during the game. Michigan needs to run, run, run, and maintain possession. Long drives.

It’s probably due to a predicted decrease in demand, since Mich and Wash supporters have to travel so much farther and are hit with higher airfare.

A lot of those fans who were at the semifinal games probably treated that as their vacation, blew a few grand on the trip, and are less likely to also attend the championship game.

I cannot wait to see the Mich D line up against that Wash O line – strength on strength. That will go a long way in deciding the closeness of this game.

Less ballyhooed are Michigan’s O and Wash’s D. Here I think Michigan should hold an advantage. Should. Teams have put up points on Washington all year, and Michigan’s offense is pretty good.

Both D coordinators have their work cut out for them.

I hate to say it…but the Rose Bowl is the football game.

Didn’t it used to be the national championship game back in the day.

Regardless. I think Michigan fans are loyal to their team…and will go.

The College Football Committee got it right! Next Monday’s game is going to be exciting.

Yep, in our house this was THE game even though next Monday is for all the marbles. We will watch the Championship game with much less stress than the Rose Bowl which used to be a terminal match. So much history and nostalgia…

This is exactly what I am telling my neighbor who’s Washington flag is waving daily outside hus house. Keep Penix off the field… Run the clock long… Then go against the corners we have. Should be a great game. He had 4 extra tickets at $750 face value. I am having people over in our basement theater. Much less expensive… Lol

I pointed out the last few games how many points Washington allowed during their games and asked my neighbor does the team have a defense as a joke. He told me once they enter the Big Ten they will find one. Well…
Going to have to work on that one fast…
If Michigan’s run game gets going and Mccarthy is consistent with maybe our receivers actually catching the ball… It could be interesting. Michigan made ā€œLotsā€ of self inflicted errors last week that are so out of character for their team and still found a way to win. They played bad and left like 7 points on the table. I just can’t see them doing it again this week. But I also don’t see 6 sacks again on Penix but that would be fun. He’s a precision QB. Not sure why he’s not higher on the draft board?

Yeah, if either Michigan or Bama had brought their A game, it would have been like 28-14… probably. Both brought their B performance, I think.

Penix was unconscious against Texas. Different launch angles, under pressure, throwing darts. Michigan needs to do a good enough job at coverage to allow the pass rush time to get there and knock him down or make throwing much more difficult – and mix up packages like they did against Alabama to help accomplish that.

No sweat, I see that we agree, I just got a different take when I read your post. Apologies.

A very casual college FB fan here—in NE we don’t know what bigtime football is (sorry BC, but you’re second-rate). I’m just happy to see someone different in the title game. Sick of seeing Bama/Georgia all the time (as a Patriots fan, I see how the rest of country felt for a long time!)

After that performance I wondered how he didn’t win the Heisman. He was great, though he didn’t cause our two fumbles, which were the first fumbles for both those plyers all season. :confounded: We so could’ve won that game. sigh

Yeah, Washington didn’t stop Texas much either.

Both games were riveting.

Why was Washington handing off late? Why not simply kneel three times, punt, and then Texas would have gotten the ball back with like 10-20 seconds left. Instead they had the injury timeout to save like 30 seconds, because they ran an actual play.

Yep. Big mistakes on both teams’ parts. Nerves must have been high on the sidelines with the coaching mistakes. Whar kind of call was that by UT to throw out to the flat and gain no yards but take five seconds off the clock? On that last play, the Wash defender clearly had his left hand on our receiver’s shoulder but at that point it seemed inevitable so I wasn’t even mad that PI wasn’t called. I just wanted to be put out fo my misery.

Pac - 12 isn’t really known for defense. The Big Ten is. I think people will look at the Penn State and Maryland games differently.

That is why they are fun to watch, lol :joy:

Those games where the final is 3 to 6 I just can’t handle

Texas did a great job getting down to the 12, and then made four awful play calls.

That center, Seth McLaughlin, has now entered the transfer portal.
