College football '25 season thread

At the same time, kids look for the highest paid job or internships. Some leave college early or never attend because they hit pay dirt on a non athletic endeavor.

So it’s not unusual but it’s now so regular and in the public eye.

But then college sports should change its mission.

There’s been discussions on this website about why kids go to college. I argue for job prospects, essentially money. Others think differently - growth, maturity or what not.

I suppose all can be true but I’m sticking with $$$$.

Deion Sanders’ sons went to school only online as they were off earning NIL money most of the time (appearances, modeling). Other players went to class. I think Travis Hunter went to classes and he graduated with a 3.8 and the Heisman Trophy.

Shilo Sanders is in a bankruptcy case where the bankruptcy trustee is trying to claw back (into the bankruptcy estate) $11 Million in NIL money.

I never expected to root for Alabama, but I cheer for any team playing OU. I’m very happy they won.

Hey, I’m an Auburn fan and rooted for Alabama in this game.

I know they’re going to get trounced, but I’m very happy to see Tulane’s football achievements this year

I was pulling for Alabama, but my heart broke for the OU kicker who was lights out all season until the last three minutes of last night’s game.

This is a good article about the rise of JMU. Do I think they’ll win tonight? No. Do I hope they win? Of course. The two G5 teams have weathered some harsh criticism over the last couple of weeks. I hope one of them silences the detractors.

It’d be fun to see them vs IU. The best coach in the country brought JMU to relevance. They were good b4 Coach Cig but he’s brought them national attention, every time they discuss him.

Maybe Notre Dame got screwed but Miami showed they belong. Winning vs A&M is huge and that’s with missing several field goals.

A lot of injuries seem to be happening in the Tulane/Ol’ Miss game. It’s also hard to get used to seeing some of them playing in what look like shorts. When they don’t wear any leggings/socks/legwear on their lower legs it looks funny. JMO

We’re watching the Ferris State/Harding game. It’s a good one. Ferris uses multiple quarterbacks during the game … we were confused until we looked it up!

And it’s a game well worth watching! (Ole Miss can thank Ferris for their season, BTW.)
