College Football Rivalry Games

Is your team playing a rivalry game today?

My team, the Ohio State Buckeyes, is playing that team from up north today. So excited. I think it will be a good game, but I predict a Buckeye victory.

It is such a big deal in our area, but I know it’s not that way in some parts of the country. It is EVERYWHERE all week long. I love how all the kids at school dress up in their OSU gear and shout out, “O-H,” on the way to the bus, waiting for another group to answer with, “I-O.”

We practice good sportsmanship, telling kids it’s great to cheer for your team, but it’s not ok to say negative things about the other team or their fans.

Glad we have a 12:00 game. I have been up for hours. Can’t get here soon enough!

The Saturday after Thanksgiving here in Virginia is always the UVa vs Virginia Tech game. Some years are more competitive then others, but the rivalry for year-long bragging rights is always hot. As this is an in state rivalry it’s common to split family loyalties for the day. We go to the game when UVa hosts because that’s our team and it’s half as far as VT. It’s always fun to be there, but there’s something to be said for watching from your own home with a comfortable chair, warm blanket, and lots of snacks. :)

My team, Michigan State, already played its arch-rivals, that blue team.

But today, I, like most others in Michigan, have blue blood. Good blue, baby!

My FSU Seminoles are going to scalp the UF Gators this afternoon in Tallahassee.

Georgia v. Georgia Tech - kind of a lopsided match up but still a great rivalry.

As blueiguana says, UVa vs. Virginia Tech. My VT kid had a ticket for the game but decided he was not ready to go back to school yet so he gave his ticket away. Older son is UVa grad so we are going to look for a sports bar that has ESPNU for the noon game. The teams are not doing well this year but should still be fun.

Today should be a good day for college football. I can’t wait to watch it all day long!
Go Bucks!

Ummm - 90 seconds into the game and Georgia scores a TD.

Our Civil War— Oregon vs Oregon State, with both teams, unusually, being good this year. Go Ducks!!

And as a Big Ten native-- our saying in house (a Badger and a Hoosier): who do we hate more, Ohio State or Michigan? Answer: yes!

:D

^ I’m pulling for Wisconsin over Nebraska.

Nebraska and I have issues right now. Or Nebraksa as their flags read at our game :D

Neighbors here in Florida hang two midwest school flags on their garage every fall Saturday- I wonder how things are today, they wouldn’t appreciate a doorbell interruption! I’ll have to get a WI flag… btw- anyone else upset with how the old Big Ten was split into two divisions and may grow even bigger? Old rivalries are torn apart- they at least kept the Paul Bunyan axe game for WI and MN. Agree with post #9’s assessment of those two teams (but don’t tell the neighbors).

I’m a Trojan fan, but I’m afraid I’d have to keep my eyes closed the whole game against the Irish today. sigh. I love football regardless of team though so I may opt for the South Carolina v Clemson game. My niece attended that USC so it would be fun - and less painful - to watch the Gamecocks.

Sooners!!!
Bedlam bowl

Records go out the window when it comes to these games. Pride is on the line. Let’s go Bucks!

The greatest college rivalry of all has to wait another couple weeks. Of course I’m speaking of Army-Navy!

A Wolverine here… argh, fumble by Michigan. :(

Seconding that argh, intparent… :(

My grandfather played football at THE Ohio State U in 1905 and 1906 and both my uncles played for them in '39 '40 '41 and then took off to fight Nazis. So though D and myself are Pac 10 girl’s …all I can say is wwwwwwwwwwwww0000000hhoooooooh. sorry.

Both D and I are Bruins so a shout out to U…C…L…A!!! Last weeks game was the BEST GAME EVER. Now go beat Stanford.

Yep, Bruins had a terrific game last week. That’s the beauty of rivalry games. There’s a history that transcends any single game. Game last year had a slightly different outcome… :).

But this year, The score of last year’s UCLA-USC may be the same as this year’s ND-USC game. Ugh.

I did grad school at Asquared, so this is really a depressing day.

Woohoo! So happy for the Buckeye seniors! Looking forward to the ND vs. USC game tonight.
