College For Cartoon Writer?

Hey, I’m new here. I am looking for a college that is a great writing school. You see, I think I want to create cartoons. For some reason, I just love cartoons. I love the classic ones and some of the current ones that are funny. I am no artist so I don’t want to draw them. I want to create the concept for the cartoon along with the charachters, the setting, and other things. I also want to write the scripts for the charachters. Do you have any colleges in mind that would be good for me?

Garry Trudeau went to Yale…

Yale would be great, but I’m not sure I’m smart enough to get into a school like that.

I would look at schools like Emerson, Allegheny, Denison, Burlington, Beloit, Colorado College and Ct. College.

Scott Adams (Dilbert) has a Berkeley MBA… ;)

I live in Colorado, so Colorado College would be really good, thanks!

I second Emerson, definitely.

Do you have some idea as to a part of the country, setting (urban vs suburban vs rural), etc? There are plenty of good writing schools.

I would also take a look at University of Denver and Westminster in Utah if you decide you want to remain closer to home.

University of Tokyo would be great, as you’d have a chance to work with the manga and anime cartoonists. However, you’d probably have to speak reasonable Japanese, and getting in is probably just as hard as getting into Yale.
