College life during summer session?

My son is considering taking a course at BU in IR during the first summer session (May-June). Since he would be a visiting student, who does not already have friends in Boston, he is wondering whether there is much of a college life (activities, clubs or other ways for him to meet people) during the summer. Any info would be appreciated
Thoughts about summer housing at BU would also be appreciated.

I don’t know much about summer session - very little - but I can say that summer is an absolutely great time to be in the city. There are many fewer people around so you get more of a sense of the place. I assume it’s somewhat lonelier at school but that’s compared to the crowds you usually find.

If you’re at BU, you cross over one of the foot bridges and the parks along the river are beautiful and they fill with sunbathers and runners, etc.

If he’s only taking a class, then he’d have time to explore the heart of the city.

Agree with Lergnom…I stayed here a couple summers ago, and it was really amazing. When you’re at school during the year, you just don’t have as much time to explore Boston as you might like. There’s so many cool, free things to do in the summer, and the beach or Walden Pond are just train rides away.

There are lots of people here over the summer…people taking classes, working for admissions, Orientation, or Conference Services…the list goes on. It’s a great time to meet some new people too.

Many thanks for the info!

i took classes there as part of the summer honors program… was really enjoyable and they schedule a lot of fun activities
