Hey! I’m looking for a college a lot like the College of Charleston (medium size, public, and campus located in a fun city) in the North or Northeast. It’s super important that the campus is urban (I’d prefer the school not to have a “traditional” campus, but to be located on the streets of a city) and have a ton of restaurant and shopping options. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
U of Vermont
U of Maine
U of Rhode Island (starting to move to large rather than medium)
Pitt is bigger than CofC but still under 20K undergrads, and Pittsburgh has a lot to offer as a student city.
Richmond isn’t “North” but it’s less deep-south than Charleston. VCU has around 22K undergrads.
UMass Boston fits in terms of size and location, but it’s primarily a commuter school - only opened its first dorms in 2018. Same scenario with the CUNY schools in NYC.
Temple is probably bigger than you want (28K undergrads) but maybe worth a look.
Newark, Delaware may not be a big enough city for you, but UDelaware has under 20K undergrads and might appeal.
If you’d look farther west, schools like U of Utah in SLC and U of Nevada Reno could be worth a look, and maybe CU Denver.
William and Mary!
