This list is not finalized but it’s roughly finalized. I’m interested in knowing if this list seems balanced and feasible. People at my school do not typically apply to top schools and those that do are typically in the opposite situation I am (high GPA, low SAT). I don’t really know what is reasonable likely, but I want to aviod both aiming to high and selling myself short. This isn’t a chance thread but my GPA is 3.75/4.36 my SAT is 2290 and my SAT 2 is 2380. Class rank is based off unweighed GPA unfortunately so I’m displaced by a lot of people who have taken easier courses (barely top 10%). Without further rambling, my list is:

SUNY Binghamton (IS)
Carleton
Colgate
Cornell (CAS)
Macalester
Reed
SUNY Geneseo (IS)
Swarthmore
Tufts
U of Chicago (EA?)
U of Rochester

I am strongly considering EA at Chicago and then increasing or (more likely) decreasing the competitiveness of the overall list according to my results. I know it seems like random list but believe me when I say I have my (insane) reasons. I worry that despite having everything else in line, I will be disqualified on account of having non-perfect GPA at a high school that has not had much success in the past.

SAT Breakout (worst possible) - CR 800, M 690, W 800. I got a 34 on the ACT math (33 overall due to science). I am going to retake each test once for hopefully a few increments better in SAT math and ACT science.

Money is quite an issue which is why I am inclined to apply to schools that give good financial aid. According to the person from Cornell I talked to my cost of attence would likely be very little ($x,xxx a year and not $xx,xxx) under their FA policy.

Perhaps I should add that I will be a NMSF and am first-gen. This probably does not have much effect but it is something.

I am strongly considering the idea of EA Fordham-Rose Hill. That is a good idea. My class rank is based on unweighed GPA, but hopefully that will not completely screw me over. I need to be in the top 10% for their full tuition National Merit deal and I could very well be 29th out of 287 or something. I really hate that unweighed GPA determines class rank because I would be on the top 10 at least…

I am also not Catholic, or Christian for that matter. Is the environment there very religious?
