College of Creative Studies - Any similar programs?

[College of Creative Studies, UC Santa Barbara](http://www.ccs.ucsb.edu/)

Are there similar programs at other universities?

I think that the honors programs at state universities allow for similar opportunities for undergraduates to work closely with professors, do research early on, and create their own projects for research and study. For example, Colorado-Boulder has the Norlin scholars program and it seems to me to offer similar opportunities as CCS.

Private research universities also say that talented UGs can move quickly into graduate study and research, but it’s something the student would pursue on their own rather than it being part of the structured program they enrolled in, as CCS is set up.

Some universities have create-your-own majors programs that might also have the component of UG being able to take graduate level courses.

Sorry I can’t come up with specific recommendations, but I’m sure such programs are out there, just not set up the way CCS (a great opportunity for students who are sure about their chosen major) at UCSB.

Thanks! I guess I’ll do some research about this

A parent recently posted this rave review of the honors program at Ohio University. Kind of the reverse of the CCR (small number of people admitted to a wide variety of majors, as oppposed to a larger group admitted to a small number of major programs), but maybe worth a look.

Here’s another related thread mentioning other programs.

Thanks! Looks good…hoping to find some in CA though
