College of Engineering Questions.

I’ve been accepted at the CoE and would like to ask a couple of questions.

1) I’m a currently doing my A-Levels and have read on the website that I would be able to recieve credits for getting good grades on these (max of 28 for me i think). Has anyone actually recieved credits for their A-Levels and could you tell me what happened and how you went about doing it.

2) With these 28 credits straight up, I’m thinking of double majoring in Engineering an Eco/Finance/Markteing/Business/Management etc. Is this common amongst engineering students? Is it easy to take classes at LSA?

3) With my 28 credits up front, will I be able to complete a double major in 4 years without doing summer semesters…thats i only 4 fall and spring semesters?

4) What are the core requirements? With A-Levels in Physics, Maths, Chemsitry and Computing would I be able to pass out of these?

5) Is the social scene on the North campus duller than on Central? If this is true would you recommend staying on Central for a better social scene?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I cant answer your first four questions.

The North Campus is the so called step sister of the Central Campus. It has a tranquil and quiet atmosphere conducive to studying , I would imagine. However with regards to the social scene , the Central Campus is much better and is located quite close to many of the COE’s buildings. With the North Campus - you would have to take the bus to and fro and waiting in the cold is not a pleasant experience.

My brother studied at Michigan and lived on NOrth Campus during the first year and on Central during the second ,third and fourth. He told me that the Central Campus is much more convenient. I have been to Ann Arbor twice and have seen both campusues.

Thanks for that. So overall Central > North?

Anyone have ideas about the other questions?

Anyone else?

Anyone at all?

Try emailing the College of Engineering or better the Internatioal Student Centre with your questions to get an official answer. They respond efficiently.

Alternatively you could try calling.

I’ll try that but I’d like to be able to talk to someone who has gone through the process themselves. Thanks.
