I am planning to apply ED

Application type: Early Decision 1
UW GPA: 3.54
SAT/ACT: Test Optional
First-gen: yes
Extracurriculars: State Board of Education (internship over 2 years), PAC (Fellow), Attorney Generals Office (summer internship), Youth and Government (Chapter president, best bill, and selected to attend national conference twice), Student Government Association (President), School Advisory Board (member), Head of school podcast, Tutor, Part of a National Youth Advisory Council of a non profit(Elected secretary), Varsity Wrestling
Academic interest: International studies and political science
Interest: Attended a tour
Applying for financial aid: Yes

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could provide insights into my chances of being admitted as it is my first choice school and have fell in love with the campus and community. Thank you!

I would say you have a great chance of getting in! My daughter is a current freshman at HC and loves it! Best of luck!

My child also applied ED.

The guidance counselor indicated that it is a reach/ target. GPA is 3.95 with weighted GPA around 4.2 (I think). Lots of extracurriculars, sports captain, volunteers at nonprofits, performs and plays a couple of instruments and works a couple of jobs during the summer. Has attended Catholic grade, middle and high school. We will be applying for financial aid.

With increasingly low acceptance rates we are keeping our fingers crossed!

I would think with ED you would be all set.

Thank, Allie7. According to the Holy Cross website, ED decisions are being released this Friday, 12/15. A concern is that according to Naviance, there are over 25 kids applying from our high school, and they can’t take all of them. I guess it all depends upon what Admissions is looking for when building their incoming class.

Best of luck to your son! I hope he gets good news this Friday!

We are in similar situation to you only grades slightly lower but secondary legacy and fantastic extra curricular. Also, those 25 kids are not all applying ED. Typically it is athletes and people super interested in the school. Hopefully they will both be in.

My son got in. So happy

My son was accepted ED1! We are all thrilled!

Any thoughts on ED 2? Seems like a competitive applicant pool. My daughter is applying ED 2. I’m nervous!

Better odds getting in ED II than RD these days. Good luck to your student. Great college.

Hi to all and happy new year. Can you please make a guess about my sons chances in getting in HC?
-applied ED2

  • US citizen resinding in foreign country, he applied for federal aid (pell grant+ sub loans)
  • 3.65 gpa but senior year 3.9
  • straight A’s in Classical Greek throughout high school
  • fluency in modern greek, decent German (b1 level), beginner in Spanish.
  • extracur: member of local basketball team, chess player in local club, volunteer for assisting fellow students in English

Do you think he has any chances? - through ED2?
Maany thanks, good luck to all waiting from colleges, happy nee year!!

I’m not in admissions, so it’s just a guess, but an upward trend in gpa is a good thing for colleges to see. I wish the best for your son. Sounds like a terrific student.

Many thanks for your encouraging and optimistic words. I hope the admissions commitee share the same opinion with you! We will see … in 5 weeks they will release decisions. He really wants to get in , last year the acceptance rate was 81 or 83%.
Best wishes to you too, if you are a parent waiting college decisions. Happy and prosperous new year with good results to all who are waiting decisions. I will update you whem they release them .

Hi, good morning! Just a question, if you know: according to the hyy cross npc i will contribute 23000$ to my sons studies. The fact that they have to offer my son circa 55000$ in need aid, does it put in disadvantage/ put in risk my son’s chances of being admitted?
Thank you in advance!!!
