The students considered for merit would have already been notified.
Does anyone know when financial information will be posted in the portal?
Monroe scholars were notified in early March, along with an early RD acceptance.
My daughter got her RD Monroe Acceptance with merit on 3/7
My daughter’s statistics sound similar to your son, but she has a stronger interest in the arts and less in sports. She’s in the top 5% of her class, has taken 12 AP courses, and earned a Capstone Diploma. However, she was waitlisted and is out of state. Congratulations to him; he has some great options. She was also rejected from UVA and unfortunately waitlisted at numerous other schools.
Did you review the waitlist FAQs? Apparently, there are guaranteed admit options for those on the waitlist for Spring 2026 semester. One is through I semester at a Virginia community college and the other is through a semester abroad. If W&M is their #1 choice, it’s something to consider.
Does anyone know when the Joint Degree decisions come out? I know they publicize “april” or “early april” but so often schools release earlier. Any morsel, guess, or actual scoop is welcome!
We are seriously considering Spring Pathway (Verto/Global). If this post is still going, I will update you guys on our decision.
They’re out! Lil’ Hammer got in! Economics!
W&M Summer Pre-Orientation Programs for new students
We (she) chose William and Mary Spring Pathway through Verto! My daughter is thrilled to be studying abroad in Spain! She even received a study abroad scholarship grant through Verto.
William & Mary seemed like the perfect fit for her, offering a strong academic program, renowned pre-med and pre-law programs, law school, a rich history, diversity, a football team, the arts, sorority life, on-campus sorority housing, including one for the oldest Black sorority, and acceptance of a wide range of AP scores. With 16 AP credits and the possibility of 24, the spring study abroad scholarship, the waiver, and at least a year of 4-year education will be covered. It’s a wise investment in her future!
Of course, the tuition fees are substantial, but we’re grateful for the waiver and the potential for additional merit aid next fall. I spoke to someone in Financial Aid, and they informed me that she will likely qualify for an out-of-state waiver in the spring. However, my income might have been too high this year to qualify for next fall. (As a therapist, my income fluctuates.) She’ll also apply for several outside scholarships, and I’ll stay on top of her because it will cost me, LOL! I think every little bit helps.
We paid the deposit for Verto. She’s obtained her passport and withdrawn herself from all other accepted schools, except for the one that waitlisted her in the top 10. Although it’s not an Ivy League school, it shares a teaching style similar to William & Mary. Also, she’s nervous about getting her visa. She’s not 18 yet and has to apply without the program. I think she wanted them as a potential backup, but if she doesn’t get her visa, she is also okay with attending community college.
We’re flying to Virginia on Saturday and will explore the area on Sunday. We’ll also visit and tour the University of Richmond, another school that waitlisted her, but she’s removed herself from the waitlist. We’re simply going for a bit of fun rivalry! Haha! If Wake Forest and the University of Virginia were closer, we would visit them too! And she would have worn her William & Mary gear! They also waitlisted her! LOL!
What ultimately swayed her decision was William & Mary’s inclusive approach to the waitlist process. They encouraged her to stay on with hope, consider community college or abroad, and then come in the spring. Instead of pressuring her to show more interest, start in the summer, or not place her on the flagship campus, they embraced her and her family as part of the Tribe!
Congratulations!!
Congrats to all. My son was fortunate to get in, but during the 5 weeks between having all of his EA decisions in and waiting for the W&M release, he started being drawn elsewhere, and I couldn’t coax him into revisiting W&M after he received his admit Wish I’d taken a trip there in late Feb/early March when he was visiting the top choices he’d been accepted to. Oh well. He’s headed to Blacksburg with his Hokie sister.
Congratulations, he had great options!
The other day, the University of Rochester accepted my daughter from their waitlist. Has anyone here received or knows of any updates regarding William and Mary?
DS got off the waitlist on Monday (5/5). They called him.
I’ve also seen a couple reports on Reddit from students who have gotten calls off the waitlist.
On Monday, I reported that my daughter received an email from Rochester informing her that she had secured a spot off the waitlist. She had seven days to respond. On Wednesday, she received a call from Wake around 3:00 CDT, confirming that she had also earned a spot on their waitlist. She had only 48 hours to respond. Initially, she had planned to follow the spring pathway route for William and Mary through the study abroad program. However, after Rochester’s removal, she seriously considered it because the scholarship and aid would have been better. Plus she started having second thoughts about studying abroad her first semester but not enough to turn away. She still felt that William and Mary was the best fit. So, she decided to leverage her position to get off their waitlist, especially since Rochester had offered her the Dean’s scholarship. However, as she was writing the letter, Wake Forest came through, and she almost thought about bargaining with them as well. But she realized that she had similar feelings about both schools and that she only had a short window to commit. She also felt a sense of disbelief because she had put more effort into getting off William and Mary’s waitlist than the other two (we had flown out there for spring break, the whole family had worn matching T-shirts, she had provided a handwritten letter, added third quarter grades, and bi-weekly LOCI, and she had paid the $500 deposit for the study abroad program). It just wasn’t meant to be and that’s ok. Despite her initial hope for a different outcome, she is now excited and at peace. We love y’all but we are headed to Wake! Go Deacs!
Congrats on Wake Forest! People really love it, and I’m sure she’ll have an incredible experience!
