College Options....

I live in NY and need some advice, I had a tough time in HS, due to mostly personal problems, like dealing with my parents divorce, and among others. I have HS GPA of 3.0, and a weighted GPA of 3.2. I took the SAT without any practice and got M:630, CR:630, W:600 total of 1860. I have absolutely no ECs, or working/volunteering experience to put on my resume. I have taken a few tough courses like, AP Bio :4, AP US :4, AP Eng Lang :5, and currently taking AP Calc.

I was thinking of studying for the SAT, my friend says that the total score can go up by 200 pnts by taking numerous practice exams (is this true?) and retaking it in January.

But what are some good schools that will give me good acceptance options, I was thinking along the lines of St. Johns, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Fordham. But I dun think I have good chances due to poor ECs. I also thought that I could go to A CUNY school for a year than transfer out: getting a better College GPA: 3.8-4.0, getting SAT score of upto 2100, and sorting out my rec letters and ECs. So this a good idea, what are other options?? Thanks for any help.

Look at the SUNYs as well. They are well regarded and relative bargains. Will you need financial aid?
