Think of it as this: it actually does increase your chance of becoming a finalist and more like of becoming matched at the school you participate. I mean once I get to the conferences I’m going to try and converse with the faculty and hope they remember me during the review process when we actually apply. Just watch when you get that letter saying: “Congratulations! You have been selected as Stanford’s class of 2014!” Mom probably wont say “oh”, she’ll probably faint from all the excitement!</p>

<p>If you think of it as a consolation prize, why not turn down the offer? I’ll be more than glad to take your place! :slight_smile: Hahaha</p>

<p>I got selected fro individualized admissions counseling (awesome!), and that was all I applied for. </p>
