is anyone applying for a travel grant???

and if so, how much?

sorry- one more question.

does receiving a college prep scholarship increase the chance of being a national match scholar?

Thanks in advance to anyone who attempts to answer my questions :)

just did, lionsrcute :]

Did everyone get either an acceptance or rejection? It’s now just after 10:pm west coast.

Got nominated for the college visit and waitlisted for Yale :frowning:
Oh well, still decent, I suppose. Anyone know what college we will likely be matched with for the college visit? Do they choose randomly from what colleges you wrote you were interested in?

Also, what percentage of nominees actually get to go visit?

Did everyone receive an email? I still have nothing.

DS got his. Stanford conference and nominated for a college visit.

I hear 200 people get college visits.

Family of QB kid from last year here, happy to answer questions as they come up.

College visits tend to be tossed back onto the colleges themselves. S got contacted in the fall about one to Williams, was then rejected for it, and e-mailed back that if they had a waitlist he would be pleased to be put on it. Two days later he was in and had a wonderful time there. Outside of that, we only heard of about one or two other colleges hosting them.

“Does receiving a college prep scholarship increase the chance of being a national match scholar?”

Yeah, historically it has appeared that way. I suppose this is good news to some, bad news to others, if one were to ask the opposite question. Mind you, I do not work for QB, so everything I say is based on personal experience and anecdotal evidence in speaking with others.

" …people from other years say conferences are just consolation prizes."

Consolation for what? The conference is great; I’m serious. Very informative and very inspirational.

If you feel it is a consolation prize for not getting the summer experience, just look at the numbers. Only about 10 or 12 (can’t remember) kids get the summer thing, but something like 2000 (again, forgive fuzzy memory) get the conferences. So yeah, one thing is a heck of a lot harder to get than the other, but still …

BTW, S got one of the two summer experiences through the Fein Foundation (he spent a summer at Harvard) and also got the conference. All along the way, the people at QB were incredibly helpful.

I just found out my grandson received the Fein Fellow Scholarship.
He’ll be attending the Yale conference.
I was curious to know if there any different programs at the conference available to Fein Fellows?
I would appreciate any helpful information you could pass along.
Good Luck to all!

Last year there was nothing special at the conferences for the Fein kids.

4th house…Thank you for the prompt reply. We are so excited for this opportunity!

Do most people go with a parent to the conferences? Or alone?

Using last year’s Yale conference as a guide, I would say about half or slightly less than half of the kids came with a parent or two. Parents felt very welcome and not out of place at all.

On the other hand, if you qualify for and get transportation compensation, it will be for the student only, not the family.

hey, i just got selected as a Fein Fellow and was invited to go to the Stanford Conference! how do i apply for a travel grant? i can’t find anywhere on the website to do this… do i just sent QB an email?

Yes, I would recommend e-mailing them.
