You might keep an open mind about the strategies that work for others who are dealing with anxiety. Your hyper focus on academics surely isn’t helping.
Do you get regular physical activity? Do you enjoy the arts- singing, painting, even badly? Do you cook or bake? Do a craft- pottery, needlepoint- anything that doesn’t get a grade or where you don’t need to excel in order to enjoy it? Play in a garage band- even off-key, but an opportunity to enjoy life with others?
If I were advising you IRL, based on what you’ve posted I would DEFINITELY urge you NOT to do “lab work” this summer. Regardless of your academic and professional goals, managing anxiety is a lifelong skill and there’s no better time to learn it than now when the stakes are low. You aren’t paying a mortgage or car payments, you aren’t balancing a spouse’s career-- all things that are hard to do for anyone.
