College Propect <-> Jop Prospect

With the recent development of the US economy, public education has took a heavy toll. A cut of around $300 million from both the CSU and UC budget for the 08/09 fiscal year.

My fear is that in a decade or so, such pattern would continue and the college that I am heavily considering (Cal Poly Pomona) would take a massive beating in its engineering program. My question is in that time would reputation of a college effect my employment prospect if the strength of its program has become obsolete, even though my graduation occurred before that event takes place?

Or would they just jack up the tuition fee to cover the expense? What would be the your speculation in regard to budget cut on UCs (LA and Irvine in particular)?

10-Q

Pomona’s reputation is already in decline. Go to Poly if you want a sterling reputation. :)

After you get your first job where you went to college is going to matter a lot less. And after that it’ll matter less and less with each passing year of actual experience you have. The guys here that have been in the industry for 20 years, nobody is ever going to care where they went to school if they end up needing to find a new job. It’s all about “what have you done lately.”
