I am a student that wants to apply to top colleges (Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Georgetown, Brown), but am worried about my class rank. My rank was 5/500 last year, but will drop this years. I have good ACT scores (>34) and am now focusing on SAT II scores. The reason my rank will drop is because I take Orchestra which is an Honors class, and instead of an AP Language, I am taking Spanish 4 (will take AP next year). Also, I moved in tenth grade, which prevented me from taking certain AP classes at my new school. How much of a factor will rank play in college admissions?
The schools you list are holistic in admission and class rank is just one thing considered. Being 5/500 or 15/500 won;t be the deciding info in your application. Chill.
