College Recommendations?

Hi. I was hoping you guys could list some colleges that fit my preferences as I’m still trying to compile a list of where to apply to.

Here are some things I’m looking for, in a list that goes from greatest to least importance downwards
Intended major: Civil Engineering
Good orchestra and/or concert band with spots for non-majors
Not in the middle of nowhere
Medium - large size
Decent financial aid
Decent diversity
Not overly competitive nature
Not greek life dominant
Good dorms
Good food
Residential Colleges are a plus
Modern style (not important, just a preference)

I believe I have quite high stats (2360 SAT), but I won’t be listing those as I’m just looking for some general recommendations and not interested in “chance me’s”.

Thanks!

Your state flagship should be on the list. U Delaware.

How much can your parents pay/year?

I’m thinking anything below 30k per year, but I will certainly be pursuing as many merit and need-based scholarships as I can.

Florida has a lot of colleges with those desired characteristics: Central Florida, SouthFlorida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International.

If the rest of your stats are commensurate with the 2360 SAT score, then Rice University in Houston would be a feasible alternative that would satisfy many of your criteria.

It’s a smallish research university whose beautifully pastoral campus is set in the middle of a major city. It is strong in engineering and features both a top-notch school of music and musical performance opportunities for non-majors.

Residential colleges are central to student life (they supplant the Greek scene entirely), and the campus vibe is generally considered more laid back and less competitive than at comparable schools in the NE.
