Are you looking for college selections? You should start by having a conversation with your HS guidance counselor (I’m surprised if you haven’t done so already…). The SUNY campuses in NY State will offer you what you want. Do some research to see which ones are more appropriate for students with your stats. Your GC should be helpful.

If finances are not an issue, let us know here and we’ll suggest other schools in New England and DC that could be in the ballpark for you.

If Financial Aid isnt an Issue do you have any other suggestions?

Being first-gen (assuming your mother, like your father, didn’t go to college) will help you - - but your stats are fairly average for applicants from the tri-state area, and less-than average for top perfoming public schools in NYC (Stuy, BxSci, etc.).

There are, however, so many schools in the north east that admission will not be a problem. Money appears to be an issue (you quit a sport for financial reasons), so you may want to focus on schools where you will get some merit money. Check out the threads on merit $ and the 3.0-3.3 thread.

Good luck.

Don’t you have this post on another thread? I thought I posted to this already?

:

We can’t ignore possible financial issues. choosing schools involves knowing the financial situation. :)

Your post about stopping crew over financial issues suggests that there are financial concerns.

How about…

St. Michael’s College in Vermont
Marist in New York
Stonehill College

These all have super nice campuses.

But, let us know if money is an issue. Do you know how much your parents can pay?

You should also consider possibly going into ROTC is money is an issue.

I’d be concerned about writing an essay about quitting crew because of financial reasons. That might cause some colleges to think that you might quit their school for the same reason. Just a thought.
