College-specific personal statement in Additional Info?

I am figuring out my applications right now, and my first choice is probably Penn, due to their PPE major.

I applied to PPE at a few universities in England, so I have a UCAS personal statement (strictly academic, showing interest and aptitude for a given course of study - has no “voice”, no flair, nothing but an eloquent motivation why PPE is for me) which I think makes a good supplementary thing to send to Penn.

However, I see no other way of getting this to Penn except under the “Additional Info” section of the Common App, which obviously means all my colleges get it. Should I attach it there?

I would somehow write that it’s earmarked for the Penn adcom.

Is this a good idea? Could it harm me with other colleges because it reveals that they might not be my first choice, or my dream school? Should I refrain since I already have a bunch of stuff in that additional info section (it just seems to add up, even if I’m conservative with it).

Any thoughts appreciated!

Go with your instincts on this one. Don’t add specific college information to the application, save it for their supplement. If you need more discouragement, just look at the PE instructions:

Note: Your Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Do not customize it in any way for individual colleges. Colleges that want customized essay responses will ask for them on a supplement form.

Thanks for your input!

Problem is, Penn doesn’t let you upload any additional documents to their supplement. So do I opt to snailmail it to them?

Shoot an email or call their admissions office. They may have better advice for you on how to send it.
