College student doesn’t want to come home for summer

… we are concerned at the less money he will make doing the “fun” job vs living at home for free and making more money. If he takes the fun far away job mom and dad will end up needing to give him more money next year for school because he won’t make as much over the summer.

If you are going to talk to him about coming home for the summer, I’d approach it from this direction. If it was agreed upon before going to college that he would work summers to help with expenses, then this is a legitimate concern.
