I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin who is hoping to transfer to the business school there (probably not going to happen given the present situation).

Basically, I was part of a transfer program and was able to complete the program in order to transfer to UT. The system school I went to was easy for me and I managed a 3.7 GPA. When I transfered to UT I had no idea what classes to take and by the time I got to registration, the classes I wanted to take were all full (transfer program students are the last to register) and in order to receive financial aid, I was forced to take classes I didn’t want to take such as Astronomy and Philosophy.

I have been working my butt off and getting the help I need but it seems that all my efforts fail. I even saw a learning specialists but even this did not help me and I continue to struggle in my classes (mainly Philosophy and Astronomy). I now believe that I just signed up for some tough classes because the Astronomy class is taught by a professor who normally teaches grad students and so he has very high expectations and his tests are very diffiucult. Philosophy is another tough class because it is essay based and the TAs grade your paper and not the professor and so they grade very hard and it seems to me that the whole class is srtuggling.

After expierencing all of this, I was able to sign up for classes with everyone else and I took classes that I know for a fact I can do well in, however, my main concern is this:

If this semester doesn’t go well, do I still have time to turn things around (I am currently a Sophomore)? Is there any piece of advice you guys could give me to help me out?

I know this was a lot but any help would be greatly apperciated! Thanks in advance!
