My freshman son was invited to interview for this, but the info they sent is extremely vague, so I have no idea if it is worthwhile. Can anyone explain what this is, and the value? Thanks!

Not familiar in specific, but generally speaking, Maryland has really awesome, unique programs and it can’t hurt to check it out. In case you haven’t seen the home page online it is http://www.omse.umd.edu/college-success-scholars.html.

It never hurts to have more information/connections/bigger network to use as a resource. Worst case scenario, he tries it, doesn’t like it and drops it. On the other hand, he could find the program is to him like college confidential is to you - a good resource to find info out that he wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

The engineering department has a special department called SEEDS that offers a lot of support programs to help ensure the best chance for success for engineering students. http://www.seeds.umd.edu/

I am assuming the College Success Scholars Program is to freshman in general as the SEEDS programs is to engineering students…I could be wrong, but that’s my take, fwiw.
