College Suggestions

I am a junior in high school and am trying to determine where I would most likely have a good chance (and experience) of going to college. My intended major is International Relations with a corresponding minor. Here are my stats:

Freshman year was all A’s and one C (biology). I also had a C in algebra one which I took in 8th grade for high school credit.

Sophmore Year:

2-D Art- A
3-D Art- A
Geometry- A
AP World History- A
French II- B
Health- A
Study Skills- A
English Honors- B
Chemistry- B

Junior Year:

Sociology-A
English Honors- B
Prob and Stats-A
Trig-A
French III-B
AP U.S. History-A
Accounting-A
Marketing-A
Law-A
Psych- A

EC’s include: FCCLA, Prom Committee, French Club, Mentoring ( I will be doing a lot more next year)

My SAT score was a 1600 (which I know is horrible, but I am not a good test taker) and I am retaking it in a few months. My G.P.A. is 3.5 unweighted and I am in the top 30% of my class (which is 400).

What colleges and universities (particularly in New England and Washington, D.C.) would be a good fit for me or that I would actually stand a chance being accepted to?

You might take a look at Seton Hall in NJ, which has an excellent school of diplomacy and international relations. In order to get some decent financial aid, which they have, you’ll likely need to get the SAT’s up a bit. Good luck.

If you can get your SATs up, you might want to look at American or George Washington University - both in DC with good IR programs.

What can your family afford?
