College Suggestions

Hi Everyone,

I am a senior in the midst of the college application process. I am currently in the process of adding/deleting schools to my list, and I would really appreciate your help! I am looking for a smaller (liberal arts or research based) school that has a very creative curriculum/atmosphere. I am also looking for a campus that isn’t as focused on athletics (not my style). I am undecided at this point, but I am steering clear of any specific math and science majors. I am probably thinking about going into business or cognitive science or something (very up in the air). Any ideas for majors based on my activities would be cool too

So, first and foremost, stats:

-GPA: 3.73 (UW- My school doesn’t do weighted grades)
-Class Rank: Top 16% (Again, school doesn’t weight grades which didn’t work out in my favor)

Recs:

-Drama/English/Research teacher: I will be getting a rec from the teacher that facilitated the work with ‘The Whiteness Project’ and that I did a teacher fellowship with. He knows me extremely well and should write a really good recommendation.
-English Teacher: Had this teacher for about two years, knows me well. Should be a good rec.
-Counselor: Don’t know him very well, but he knows a lot about my work with the school as well as my small business so it should be good.

Vassar
Brown (mega reach)
UPenn (mega reach)

Again, if you can let me know if there are any smaller schools that are known for their creative curriculum/atmosphere that are within my range (or out of it). I appreciate any help you can give me!! If you need any more info let me know. Thanks so much

I love your ECs and think Muhlenberg and Haverford would be good choices.

You would be wise to run the net price calculators to determine if your family can afford any of these schools, OP.

Thanks @jkeil911‌!!

What about Knox, Allegheny, Colorado College, Hendrix, or New College Florida?

@MYOS1634‌, I will take a look at them. Are any of them located in an urban setting? Thanks!

New College is by a city in Florida but on the beach, Colorado College is in Colorado Springs (a big city), Hendrix is about 30mn from Little Rock (AR), Allegheny and Knox are both rural although both are worth a look.

Barnard, Swarthmore, Amherst, are good LACs and also look into Johns Hopkins.

I really like the 5 college Claremont Consortium, and I’d suggest that you investigate Scripps College. It’s east of LA. The Claremonts like students with your kinds of accomplishments. Your ethnicity could be a strike against you however at a California school. I think @ilovefrefre’s suggestions are good schools but, except for Barnard, unlikely to highly unlikely to take an Asian student with a 30 ACT.
