College teams, travel question

Just curious to ask if your kiddos’ teams are booked into hotels where Internet connections are included in the negotiated team rate. My student-athlete often has schoolwork to do, and a couple of times hasn’t had “free Internet”.

Maybe it is a small gripe, but from a business point of view it seems like something fairly easy to negotiate into a block of rooms.

This weekend, the team is at a Marriott where Internet is $12.95 per day.

The hotel is probably getting 40-50 room-nights between athletes and fans. (I’m not advocating for free Internet for the parents, just showing how much the hotel is getting).

Great question. I will ask.

I know he has internet on his bus when he travels but not sure about the hotel.

My son took it upon himself to negotiate free internet for all the players staying at his hotel for the East Cobb showcase! He was annoyed and thought it ridiculous that a) they didn’t offer it and b) no one thought to ask.

Kid cracks me up!

Also check to see if your D or S has a free mobile hotspot app on his/her cell phone. 3 out of 4 of our phones have it (and the service is included in our Verizon data plan.

We travel often and use it everywhere (in the car, hotels, etc…)
