Something in there to offend everyone!

At one time I was fluent in Fortran.

I think we can all relate to this - funny but true!

That was great! I’ve always enjoyed Mitch Albom’s literary take on things. Thanks for sharing the link!

Talk about dead poets, FORTRAN??? :wink:

Fortran as part of the “new”? Huh? It should have been part of the “old.”

Lol…I learned Fortran 4. Cute editorial. I think we can all relate to this article.

This is good. And it came right after I read that my former dorm had been razed for a new “living center” complete with a pool (for lounging around, not swimming laps). I want to pull a Rodney Dangerfield and go back to school where I can live in a living center with a pool. And my own shower. And food that you can actually decipher what it is.

@Marian I guess learning Fortran today is like learning Latin. Both are dead languages but are the root of modern languages.

@TomSrOfBoston

My CS Prof referenced fortran in a lecture to give examples of bad programming practices such as endless “goto” statements.

@cobrat In 1970 there wasn’t much else.

@tutumom2001, my old dorm room is still there at my college and they show it on the tour! One of my dorm friends saw it with her son last year, and said it was unchanged. So some things stay the same!
