i am a high school junior and am going to look at Lehigh, Bucknell, and Carnegie Mellon this weekend. All the guided tours however, are on weekdays should i possibly visit just the campus and see how I like it or no thats stupid?

Personally, listening to all the tour guides say the same things about each college, for an hour with each college, with ten colleges, and hearing each of them brag about how, at their college, the professors are so accessible that they have no lives and will respond to email at 2 A.M., generally bores me to death.

IMO, it’s probably fine if you just wander around the campus a bit and get a brochure.

Just wandering around will give you a feeling for the physical part of the campus, but you will learn much more on a guided tour. Yes, it does get repetitive, but if you are analytical about it, you will realize what is different about each school from it.

Be sure to sign in at the admissions office, they use whether or not you visited as a demonstration of interest in the school, which can affect admissions in a tight situation.
