College Transfer

Hello,

I guess I should say that I am currently a First-Year at Saint Michael’s and I love it here, I really do. I think a made a good choice for my first year, and even though I struggled, I’m finishing strong in comparison. Additionally, I think my Sophomore year will be even more prosperous.

But I don’t know if this place is meant for me. I don’t not at home, but I don’t feel at home either, and so I’m thinking about transferring colleges. Which is what this discussion is about, anyone know where I could transfer to?

I don’t know what colleges look for when they get transfer applicants, but here are my stats:
HS GPA: 3.12
College GPA: 3.58 (rough first semester)
SATs: Hah, like I remember

For potential colleges, I’m thinking about Stonehill, maybe Fairfield if my GPA is good enough. I’ve also humored the idea of NYU and Williams, but I’m pretty sure both of those are out of my league.

What’re your thoughts? I’d like to stay at a LAC, and I’d like to go somewhere that has a decent population.

Thanks for your time and thoughts!

Colleges want to accept successful students who will make a positive contribution & addition to their student body. These traits can be exhibited by a high GPA, student involvement & a solid reason for wanting to transfer to that particular college or university.

Are you male or female. I only ask because hampshire college mt Holyoke and salve Regina came to mind. My Holyoke is a women’s college

You need to find a solid academic reason to transfer. In what specific ways is the program for your major stronger at the target college or university? You can have different majors and different things that are better at each place you apply to, but your primary reason for your transfer should be an academic one.
