Hello I attend CSU Long Beach and am looking to transfer next Spring. What is the average GPA that is ideal to transfer? Since I’m only a first year would it still be smart to land an internship this summer? Help!!

i say the highest you can get. preferably 3.7+ GPA

to what school? it makes a difference. i transferred to Steinhardt from CUNY.

i had kind of a low GPA but i had tons of ECs and sterling recommendations. (3.4 with two internships, a job, a varsity sport and volunteer work. my recommendations were from a professor that had taught at NYU before and my internship coordinator.)

it’s always best to get a high GPA. 3.4 isn’t really bad but it does put anyone less competitive than others. my high school GPA is actually ~3.4 too but still always better to get a higher GPA. it also helps out in internships, especially with those who have high GPA min requirements.

i say ~3.5+ GPA min. for Tisch and Stern
~3.4+ GPA for CAS
~3.3+ GPA for Steinhardt
~3.2+ GPA for Gallatin (there was ~3.28 person who got in in previous transfer threads)
