My dream is the William and Mary Joint Degree Programme with St Andrews, but I’ve taken the ACT multiple times and I just don’t think I can get it up to where it needs to be to be competitive for the program. So I’m trying not to get my heart set on it and am looking for some less selective schools that either have joint degree programs similar to this one, or extended study abroad opportunities (ideally more than one year). I know Columbia has a joint program with Trinity College but my application would not be competitive there.
I have a 3.95 UW GPA, 30 ACT (36 reading, 34 English and 20 Math 
), 9 APs (have taken 4 AP tests, with three 4s and one 5). Rural Virginia school. Female ethnic minority (though I’m not sure this matters anymore). Good but not amazing ECs (regional-level honors instrument, language honors, honor societies). Should have really great recommendations one from the director of the environmental studies STEM academy program that I participate in at my school. Looking to major in History and/or environmental studies or similar minor. Ideally, I would really like to position myself well to move to the UK or elsewhere in Europe after graduation but I’m not sure I want to commit to enrolling directly in a university there and not getting a US degree.
My financial aid situation is kind of complicated and I am unsure whether I will quality for any need-based aid, but we could probably handle about 30k/yr out of pocket with family assistance.
Any suggestions on schools that might be a good fit?
