As one example, Duke’s climate is predicted to become like that of Highlands, Texas in 60 years under a “higher emissions” scenario.
Putting in Austin, Texas gives the result that its climate will be like San Ygnacio, Texas, but the map places the latter outside of Texas.

That seems like a bad comparison. I don’t think sea level rise is going to put Durham on the coast. Now it might be like Columbus GA. Little hotter year round, closer to sea level but not 400 feet closer.
The site appears to generate analogs based on temperature predictions. Proximity to current or future coastlines is not considered.
But being coastal has a big effect on climate such as hurricanes and tropical storms
The location in Mexico may represent the precisely calculated analog. The location in Texas may represent the nearest town to this place.
University of Alaska Fairbanks is predicted to have a climate similar to southern New Mexico. I find that hard to believe.
However, Fairbanks is currently warmer than Cloudcroft, NM at times. In particular, the average July high temperature in Cloudcroft, which resides at 8,500 ft. in elevation, is 71°; that for Fairbanks is 73° (source: Best Places).
South Hadley, MA (Mount Holyoke) is projected to be like Ola, Arkansas.
Mount Vernon/Gambier, Ohio (Kenyon) is projected to be like Krebs, Oklahoma.
Bethlehem, PA (Lehigh) is projected to be like Fountain Lakes, Arkansas.
I’m unimpressed with this project and think it lacks context. Saying Durham is going to be like a Gulf Coast town is just bonkers. Durham is 150+ miles from the nearest beach and while Durham does get rain from tropical storms it doesn’t get direct hits from hurricanes. I don’t think sea level rise is going to cause it to become coastal.
This is a good project from NOAA: https://crt-climate-explorer.nemac.org
Waterville, Maine (Colby) is predicted to become like Salem, Kentucky.
Claremont, CA (the Claremont Colleges) is predicted to become like Rialto, CA (24 miles to the east).
Northfield, Minnesota is predicted to become like Pond Creek, Oklahoma.
