Colleges and Universities that an American Communist would fit in at?

<p>I’m looking for some school that has a progressive, forward thinking mindset and one that offer Pre-Med training (either via a Pre-Med major or biology, chemistry, pharmacy, etc.) in the USA, the closer to my home in SE Texas the better. Give me schools that are matches, safeties, reaches. Any kind of input or contribution is greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>My stats in a nutshell</p>

<p>2060 on SAT (1400 on Math + CR)
31 on ACT
Lots of volunteer work
Lots of AP classes
4.43 weighted GPA on a four point scale
White Hispanic Male from Texas
Hoping to study medicine or do research
Excellent Teacher and counselor recs.</p>

<p>You don’t need to bump an hour old post. A lot of people are probably asleep. I can’t think of any schools close to Texas that aren’t conservative. Just look up most liberal colleges, and see if any are near you. Sorry, but I don’t know how many liberal schools there could be in the south haha.</p>

<p>Do you have automatic admission to UT-Austin? Austin is actually a pretty liberal city</p>

<p>Rice University probably would tolerate a well-behaved communist.
It would be a reach, but worth a shot. </p>

<p>There are plenty of progressive (i.e. liberal) colleges in the South, but I doubt that you would find a thriving communist community at any of them. They do tend to be, however, more accepting of alternative views.</p>

Duke has long had a very proud and thriving community of Marxist scholars. As far as I know, it’s the only college in the country to offer a Marxist studies program.</p>

<p>In fact, it earned the ire of David Horowitz for precisely this. I would imagine that his railing against the “extreme leftist” scholars at Duke makes it sound extremely appealing to such students! ;)</p>

<p>UT-Austin would work as far your political concerns go. It has students and professors from across the entire political spectrum, from the far left to the far right. If you are in there automatically, at least you have that option.</p>
