HAHA.

Your reach schools…aren’t gunna happen.

Citizenship doesnt matter for ****. Though some schools due to financial issues do prefer out of state students/international. But that’s only like 0.9999% of their admit decision.

Personally, if you have a 3.8 weighted, then you should consider state schools.

Don’t listen to Abby08. 3.8 weighted means nothing out of the context of the difficulty of one’s courses and school. It is also higher than most state school applicants. If you can raise your ACT score even just the one point, and especially if you can raise it two points, you should be in a far better position for your target and some of your reach schools. With that being said, I might try and find one more school that is somewhere in between where your current reaches are and where your current targets are and replace one of your highest reaches with this school as your reaches do seem to be very high.

you’re safeties are pretty good, although I would apply to another state school or something, assuming you are from CA, in case finances become an issue and you don’t get scholarships at St. Lawerence or Seattle, and UC Davis doesn’t admit you for some crazy reason… you definitely need to get the ACT up if you want a chance at any of your reaches, sorry, and write the killer essays you know you can.

yikes, do you all really think that amherst is that hard to get into? I’ve looked at their statistics, and they didn’t seem as selective as I used to think they were. I’m applying to amherst, too, and my academics are not anywhere near as great as ness123’s! I mean, my GPA is a 3.7 but I’ve only had one AP class and two honors classes. The only outstanding thing that I’ve done during my high school years was a year-long foreign exchange trip to Italy, and I try not to use that as a crutch. It was an amazing and challenging experience, no doubt, but I feel that I should have accomplished something more. Any thoughts? Is it really as hard to get accepted by UMass as these discussion boards make it seem?
